Busy Busy Day

Today was super busy, but as usual I seem to thrive on that so it was a good day. I started the morning helping Aaron clean up Parker who had just thrown up all over at the breakfast table. poor little guy. And my poor big guy who had to watch and clean it up. Thanks honey ;). So Since he sleeps on the bottom of a bunk bed we made a "cave" out of it and tucked him in to watch a movie and rest. The whole time he was begging for food though. Finaly I gave in and let him eat. No more throw up all day. He was even in a good happy mood. So I don't know what it was but he certainly didn't seem sick so that was nice. Then I ran out for a min to go pick up a couch from someone for free for a friend and rushed home to be here for my day care kids to come. While they were here I made a cake of course. My cousin called this morning and wanted to know if I could amke one for her daughter tomorrow. She didn't really need anything fancy, but I haven't made a girls b-day cake before so I had a lot of fun with it. It is going to be a carousel with horses and everything. I'll post pics of the finished cake tomorrow. its turning out really cute and gave me a chance to practice a lot of things that I haven't really done before. After all that Aaron came home. And since he is absolutly the most fabulous husband on earth, he din't complain about the disaster in the kitchen, or about having no dinner. he helped clean up and cooked us all something to eat. Then I left and he watched the kids while I went to a Relief Society activity. So it was a busy day and tomorrow is looking about the same, but it'll be fun.

Funny for today- While Boston and Bella were here, Parker and Bella were on the couch looking at books while the babies were sleeping. I was in the kitchen cooking and listening to them. And this is what I heard
"Bella, I love you, you are so sweet. But sometimes when you are angry I don't like you anymore"
then a bunch of nonesense, and then "I think that one day we are gonna get married Bella"

It was sooooo funny!!! I tried really hard to get the video camera out fast enough to catch some of thier funny conversations, but wasn't fast enough. I had trouble getting 2 of the disks to actually record, but did manage to catch some of them reading together.

WANTED!!

Hey everyone! I am wanting to make some more practice wedding cakes but can never seem to narrow down my ideas enough to make one. So I need some help! Can you send me some pics of cool cakes that you come across and I'll try to make them? Better yet, after I make one does anyone want to come eat it for me? Thanks!

Chicken something

So I can't think of a good name for it, but I actually made up a recipe! And it was really really good.

I've been trying to think of good things to eat since I started dieting last week. After looking at the pics from our washington vacation-which I got back but have been to lazt to post- I decided that I have got to try to develop some kind of inner motivation and lose some weight. I was really disgusted at how I looked and so far the diet is going really good. So anyways, here the recipe:

A Few Chicken Breast-cut into pieces

Tablespoon of olive oil

2-3 cloves of garlic minced (I think its called a clove, 2-3 pieces from the garlic when you take it apart ;))

2 c. chopped fresh spinach

1 tomato diced

1 shallot minced

lemon juice

salt and pepper

sprinkle of parmesean cheese

I have to admit I haven't really measured anything, but I think this is about how much I've used. Next time I'm adding mushrooms since I think that would be extra delicious ;)

Heat the oil and add everything but the spinach and cheese. Cook until the chicken is almost done then add the spinach and cheese. This is really good just as it is or in wrap with some rice.

Let me know what you think and if you have any other good tips for healty eating. Anyone know a good sugar free syrup? Liz? Any pointers?

Little trouble maker

KC is getting so active lately. Here are some pics of him climbing in the dishwasher. Its never safe to do dishes anymore if he's around. His other fav. pastime lately is splashing in the toilet! Yuck!!! So were really working on making sure Parker always remembers to flush and close the toilet when he's done :). Unfortunately there have been a few disgusting misshapes so far. I even caught KC on top of the toilet the other day. He'd used Parker's step stool to climb up on it. Silly little guy is just into everything and always on the go now. I forgot how exhausting this stage can be. But he sure is cute and a lot of fun when you can keep him out of things and playing.

Along with his new found energy for causing trouble KC has discovered that Parker sleeps in his room too!! What do you know, they've shared a room for almost a year and it's never been a problem before. but now if KC is not sound asleep, or Parker. Then KC pops right up in his bed and just laughs and laughs at Parker. Last night they played for nearly 4 hrs after we put them to bed. Now besides the fact that they aren't getting enough sleep and tend to be a little cranky in the morning because if it, and the endless pleas for them to go to sleep are getting really old and tiring, I don't think this would bother me too much since they are enjoying each others company. But Parker has taken to hanging onto the side of the crib and bouncing it until it is about 2 feet away from the wall and he can run around it, all while filling it with anything and everything he can find in the room. I'm just waiting for the night when the whole thing topples over on top of him KC and all. Not to mention the worry of KC being smothered by all the blankets and stuffed animals piled on top of him. So against the opinion of my father who thinks the problems with the world now it that no one shares a room anymore, KC is moving out of the room and getting is own bedroom. We have an extra room that was our office until Dad gave us a laptop. Now it's just an empty room where we put things when we are in a hurry to clean the house and don't want to put things away :). Hopefully now everyone will be able to get some sleep, and yes, there won't be quite as much fun occurring at bedtime, but there will also be a few less spankings and angry mommies and daddies. So I'm excited for the change.

Birthday Fun

Since my birthday is this week we had dinner at my parents house tonight. And they gave me (us) a new video camera!! I am so excited. So stay tuned for upcoming videos. It's going to be really fun to be able to share videos with everyone and get some fun footage of the kids. Expecially since KC will be walking soon. I can't believe he will be 1 in just a few weeks!! It's gone so fast. This time last year I was huge! 9 months pregnant and miserable. But Aaron sent me to the day spa for my b-day so it was a day I'll remember for a long time. I'm sure glad I'm a little more comfortable this year.

Lightening McQueen again...

This weekend I had an order for a Lightening McQueen cake like the one I made Parker. It was fun to do again. Too bad I didn't make note the first time though. I had to figure it out again. But it turned out okay although the front could have been a little longer. I also had my first "tasting" on Saturday for a wedding cake I am doing next month. I wasn't planning to do any, but was curious to what they would think so I did. And good news! She loved my cake and is very excited for the wedding cake.

Parker and Max

A few weeks ago Kris and Ginna got to come and spend a few weeks while Kris did an internship at the U of U. We had so much getting to see them while they were here and miss them so much already! We hope you guys can get into the residency program here so we can see you more! Parker had lots of fun playing with Max. They got to go swimming at the Lehi Legacy center pool and at Grandmas house and ours. Max even got to come a spend the night one day. Its was fun to spend some one on one time with him and get to know him better. Heres some cute pics of the boys playing together. Parker even got his first "check up" with dentist Kris.

Wedding cake pics

Okay here is the wedding cake I made. It wasn't for a real wedding, just practice, but I love it! The flowers make all the difference. I decorated the front and back differently so I could have pictures of 2 different looks. The top tier is real cake, lemon with a raspberry cream filling. The other tiers are dummies. It didn't really take very long at all, only about 5hrs total from start to finish. Boy is it hard to smooth buttercream so it looks really nice. Expecially with the new crisco that is out, with 0 trans fat. I get that is healthier and all, but it really really makes my icing harder to work with. Oh well, I'll just have to learn to deal with it or start buying the really expensive stuff.

Today

Well turns out I have more than a yucky cold. I went to the Dr. yesterday because I woke up feeling really really lowsy. I have a sinus infection and the start of bronchitis. So a few copays later and 3 prescriptions and hopefully things will get better. I already feel much better today than I did yesterday. So to enjoy my sick time I have been vegging with the kids watching tv and making gumpaste pearls. Hundreds of them. I need them for a wedding cake in July so thought I'd better get started. They are a lot simpler to make than I expected so I think I've made about 400 so far. But I need a lot of different sizes, and they cost a ton to order premade, so I have a few more days work to go. But they are turning out great. They are going to look really cool. I'm making a practice wedding cake this weekend so I can try some out and see how they look.
So since I haven't been up to anything more than rolling little balls of fondant we went to dinner tonight. We found a pizza buffet place that we had a coupon for. So for all 4 of us to eat dinner it was only 6$! It wasn't all that good, but for 6$ I can't complain. There was even kareoke(sp?). Then we stopped by the park so the kids could play for a min. Now Aaron is off picking up a vacuum from freecycle for a guy that he home teaches that lost his to his evil exwife in a divorce. So I'm glad we could find one for him. I hope it works okay for him.
KC's new word this week is Owwee. Anytime he hits you in the face or bits or falls down or really anytime he feels like making noise I guess, we hear owwee with a cute little concerned look on his face. It's so fun to see him learning new things and how he interprets them. So tomorrow I'll try to post some pics of the cake I am making. I think it will be cool, I hope. Till then have a good night!

hunting cake

Here's the June cake for Aaron's office. It's for his boss Vic. He's a hunter, and we out the Y on the mountain just for fun since he graduated from BYU. My reverse shell border is getting better. When I first tried to do it I could not figure it out. I don't know why, it's not that hard, but it seemed impossible.

Today I booked another wedding cake. That makes 2 for July. This one is part gluten free. I'm also charging a better price on it. The first one in July I am totaly losing money on. But oh well. I'm learning as I go how to do pricing. It's hard because every cake is so different. But I think I need to set some prices for basic party cakes, like sheet cakes, and keep them the same always. I feel bad, since I started doing the cakes for Aarons office I think it's been a different price every month. But it's hard to know how much it will really cost and how much time will go into it. I am getting faster though. My new program works well for all this, it's just time consuming to get all the recipies and such in there.

Well thats all today. I have a really yucky cold and so Aaron is going to go to the store and get me some more Nyquil. Thanks honey, I love you.

Oh ya, in case you aren't in Aarons fam, my sis-in-law Julie had her babies!! Charlee and Gaven. They are so cute!! Now they have 5 kids! 5 and under. wow, good luck Julie!. I can't imagine how hard that would be, but they are adorable and I'm excited for them. I'll try to put a pic on. Hopefully I get better fast so I can go and hold them.

It worked! See how cute they are!! I wish my little guy was that small, they get big way too fast. I can't believe in only a month KC will be 1!. Well, goodnight.

Just some pics

Saturday was the 2 yr anniversary of Kennys death so we went to the cemetary and took some flowers and a big balloon. Since it's right by my parents house we dropped by for a visit. Here are some pics.

Can't keep me down

KC has learned to climb out of his highchair. I was trying to get the dishes cleaned up after breakfast yesterday before getting KC down, so he decided to take it upon himself to get out. Needless to say it's time to get a strap for the chair so he can't do this again and fall down. He was so proud of himself though.

The dentist chair

Okay, if you look at this don't tell Kris about it. (my bro). It's a surprise for tomorrow. He's coming to town with his fam for 2 weeks to do an intership at the UofU. We are having a party/dinner tomorrow with our family and his in-laws and my sis-in-law asked me to make a cake for it. Its a guy in a dentist chair, with awful teeth. Everything but the top half of the chair back that is upright is cake. That part is styrofoam covered in fondant. The eyes are a little freaky, not sure what to do about that, I tried making eyelids but that didn't help much. It took most the day, but I really like how it turned out.

Camping anyone?

Today Parker was so good! We went to a friends and played in the sprinklers and hung out most the day. So neither of the boys got naps, but did really good despite that. So as a reward Daddy told him they would go camping outside in the yard. We set up the tent and made a fire and everything. We even had smores. It was so fun! Too bad it only lasted about 15mins after they went to go to sleep. Parker wanted to sleep in his own bed, Aaron was a little disappointed but a glad he got to sleep in his warm soft bed. Maybe we'll try a real camping trip later.

Yumm...

I made this cake on tuesday. I got to take dinner to a family in our ward and had a choc cake sitting in the fridge. I'd baked it the day before for a different cake but decided not to use it. So it came in pretty handy. Since I had very little supplies to make icing I just made a little then crumbled up those yummy wafer cookies with cream in the middle and put them on top and then some whole ones around the bottom sides. I also put vanilla pudding in the middle.
