Happy Birthday to me! :-)

My birthday was yesterday and it was so much fun!!!
I had a wedding cake to do yesterday so I did that most the morning, that wasn't so fun, but I like cake so it was okay.
The sad part is when I delivered it the bride told me that the groom had skipped out a few days ago and they didn't even get married. But I guess they were gonna party anyway since they didn't cancel the cake and they were at the reception center. I felt really bad for her. But I guess you run into that sort of thing when working in the wedding industry.

After that since we had to go north we stoped at our old house to play with my good friend Camille and her kids. It was so fun to visit with her and for Parker to play. We miss them so much, they were the best neighbors ever and I'm so glad we got to become such good friends. They are moving next weekend to Wyoming for work so we'll miss them even more than :(

When we were done playing we headed home to meet up with Aaron. He bought be a ymmu cake from Baskin Robbins :)! Cake that I don't have to make is awesome. At least when it comes to my birthday cake. We didn't get a chance to eat any of it last night since right after we got home the baby sitter showed up and we were out the door again, but I'm looking forward to some of it today.

We went to my FAVORITE restaurant ever. Tucanos. Its a Brazilian grill and I always eat way to much, but its SOOOO good. Evelyn and Jeremy came with us and that made it even better. And Evelyn gave me the cutest pocket calender that matches my website and a cool magazine with lots of yummy chocolate recipes in it. yummmmm.

After stuffing ourselves sick(its all you can eat), we headed to a late movie. Well 9:30, but now days that's late for us. Lame I know. We saw Get Smart and it was the best movie ever! So so funny, you should all go see it for sure. We got home just before midnight and fell right to sleep. Morning today came a little to son, but it was worth it fr such a fun night.

Thanks everyone for the fun birthday wishes and for making it a great day!

Today the boys got haircuts. When Parker's was done he looked in the mirror and loudly exclaimed "My hair looks like crap!"
Oh Parker, I love you.

I need your help

Calling everyone who has ever had my cake or knows someone that has. I'm redoing my website, and it is so cool now! You have to check it out.
But I haven't transferred any of my customer comments yet, and I figured it'd be nice to have some new ones. So would you go to my new site and leave a comment (nice ones please ;)) int he guestbook/customer reviews section? Also I'm trying to get my site to start showing up in google and other search engines, but I need more links from other places. Will you add a link to my cake site from your site, whatever that might be? Thanks!

And check out the new site :)!! I'm still working on it, but so far its awesome!

Dumpster Diving

So we got a big load of great wood, for free, from the dumpster. We're going to build some shelves in the garage, so we wandered over to the nearest dumpster where the newest house is going up in the neighborhood and helped ourselves to the trash. I think we'll have more than enough to build plenty of shelving. Sweet.
And they announced at church today that they are splitting our ward next week. Should be interesting. I'm a little worried that Evelyn and I might not end up in the same ward anymore. And then I might have to branch out and actually get to know someone else to sit by! Yikes. Oh well, more friends is a good thing right? So we'll see what happens.

Stephanie's Wedding

My Cousins Stephanie got married today and it was such a beautiful reception. We weren't able to make it to the ceremony since I was in charge of the cake this morning :), but the reception and lunch were great. I'm a new fan of greenhouse weddings. SO Pretty! Just beautiful greenery and flowers everywhere. And thanks again Stephanie for letting me make your cake. I feel honored to have been a part of your special day. You looked stunning and I'm so happy for you!

Birthday Fun

Since Mom and Dad are headed down to St. George for awhile and won't be around next week for my birthday next week, we got together tonight for a little early birthday fun. They came down and we had dinner at the park. It was such a beautiful day, and it was nice to get out after being in all day working on cake for tomorrow.
I even got to open a few presents! Mom and Dad got me an Ipod Nano! Whoohoo, I've wanted an ipod forever so I'm super excited. And since my computer died a few weeks ago they gave me a "new to me" laptop! Thanks Mom and Dad! I love them both and its awesome. Aaron's glad to not have to share his new computer with me anymore lol and I'm glad to have my own that I can put as much cake stuff on that I want.
The kids loved getting to play at the park a little and wrestling with Grandpa. We'll miss Mom and Dad while they are in St. George, but we hope that they have a good time.

June Cakes

Thanks Evelyn ;) I stole the collage from your blog. I hope you don't mind. Evelyn has been so cool to take such great pictures for me of my cakes. Her photography makes them look even better than I can and I love it! Check her out at Freckles Photography.

So here are the pics of the latest cakes. When I get the pics from her I'll out some more up of them individually :) So next month will be a year since I made my very first wedding cake. Pretty Cool. I still have a few more this month that i'm looking forward too. My cousin Stephanies being one of them :) Then I get to relax a little in July since I decided not to book any cakes then. I'll just be doing a few b-day cakes and having fun with my boys who I missed so much when I was so busy last week.
I am looking to fill up August and september though so if you know anyone getting married send them my way :)

Tagged

So here it goes, I never do these, always think I will, and I enjoy reading them when other people do them, I just get lazy when its my turn.
So Catherine tagged me and here are the rules.
A ~ Each person has to list 6 facts/habits about them.
B ~ After part A, go to 6 people's blogs and leave a comment letting them know to read your blog, and that they have been tagged. List at the end of your posting who you have tagged.

1. I hate getting up in the morning, unless I wake up on my own, but when someone else wakes me up and tells me to get up, especially my kids, I immediately get grumpy. I hate it. I wish I could sleep till I'm ready to get up everyday. I used to. Sometimes that meant it was noon before I came around. I remember my mom coming in my room to get me up for school when I was younger and opening the blinds and turning on the lights. Argh, it was awful. I don't blame her, I'll probably do the same to my kids, but that doesn't make it suck any less.

2. I've pretty much always hated the way I look. And now that I've had kids and my bad eating and lack of good exercise habits have caught up with me, I look back on how I used to look and think I was crazy for not being happy with it. But I think a lot of us can say that. Oh to be 16 again. Maybe one day I'll find the motivation to actually do something other than complain about it. Maybe.

3. I love, LOVE, kitties. I think most of you already knew this, but I don't think you really understand how much I love them. I'd rather cuddle up around my fluffy white kitty at night and listen to him purr than snuggle with my husband. Not that I don't love him more than the kitty, I really do. He's just not as cuddly. And I LOVE to snuggle with the cats right after I get out of the shower. They're soo soft. Anyways, that's probably more than you wanted to know. Just know that as long as I can and my kids and I aren't allergic enough to be sick from them, we will always have a kitty or 2. I apologize to all our friends and family that are allergic and so can't come to my house, but I'll come to you.

4. I chew my fingernails till they hurt, and don't want to stop. Nevermind that I have a few chipped teeth because of it. It helps me deal with stress.

5. I believe in retail therapy. It works. Always.

6. I'm really bad at taking medicine. Sometimes I go to the dr., get a prescription, fill it, and then it sits in my cupboard untouched until I finally throw it away. This usually works fine when I have simple things like a sinus infection or such, I still seem to get better. But with maintenance drugs like my allergy pills or my "happy" pills, its a problem. I'm trying to get better.

So thats it, probably more about me than you eer wanted to know. I tag Evelyn, Liz, Lisa B, Ginna, Lechelle, and Cory.

* This is the life *

This week has been fabulous! I have a few cakes that I'm working on which usually means lots of stress, but not this time :)
I hired a babysitter! She is fabulous! She's coming everyday this week and spending half the day with the kids while I work and the kids LOVE her.
She brings puppets and sidewalk chalk, music makers, and tinker toys, which Parker thinks are way better than ours lol. The kids have really had a good time with her. She's babysat for us a few times before and its been so nice to get a break.
I thought it would be a little awkward to have her here and still be here myself, but it hasn't been at all, we get a long great and the kids listen to her really well. And I love that I can get done what I need to and still have the kids home, but not bored and neglected. I hate trying to get friends and neighbors to watch my kids, I always feel like I'm imposing, plus its hard to have to find time to return the favor, so to just pay someone that don't feel bad asking is great.

I also found some great new tools and techniques for some of the things I'm doing this week with my cakes. Stay tuned for pictures. They should turn out really cool. I've worried about taking on too many cakes since it makes it hard for me to manage all my time, but now that I found a sitter I might do more. I can hire a part time nanny on cake weeks and feel like I have time to do both cakes and be a mom. I wish I'd tried this sooner. It is a little strange to be here but not have to worry about the kids, kinda like I'm not sure what to do with myself, but I think I could get used to it :)

Anyway, the fence got finished and now the kids can play outside and not escape :)! Whoohoo! Its nice to have a little more privacy too.
Other than that not much is happening, just baking and playing :)

Check it out....
http://www.kariscakeventures.com/
Thats right, Dad linked my domain name to my site. Cool huh, now we just need to figure out how to get it to show up in a google search? Yea it shows if you search the exact words, but I want it to show if you search for utah wedding cakes. Any ideas on how to do that without having to pay a bunch of money?
Digging the post holes for our fence! The panels will be in on monday :) Then hopefully I can keep the kids from escaping the yard.

Making smores in our Chiminea, its the first time we've used it and it was so much fun! The kids expecially liked the marshmellows.

KC loves the kitty doors. Here he in in the laundry troom peaking out the door into the garage, I think trying to show someone out there that he found a car.
GRASS!!! WHOOHOO!!! Heres my garden area, and guess what! My plants are actually starting to grow! All except the cantaloupe, the seeds come up and quickly die. I don't know what the problem is there, but at least everything else seems to be doing well.

Doesn't the grass make a huge difference! I love it. And we're having a BBQ saturday that everyone ois invited too and you can come see it too :) Its at 4:00. If you want to come let me know and I'll get you directions. And its bring your own meat :)

The King of Fits

KC's got this 2 year old thing down and just in time since he'll be 2 next month. He sure makes life interesting. Although for every crazy fit he throws he's equally as cuddly and sweet, so I guess its allright. Its actually slightly entertaining. This fit is because I made him come out of the laundry room where he wanted to dump the kitties water into their food. Really, how dare I get in the way of a good time.

Another great thing about KC right now is that he can climb out of his playpen, which we were using to put him to sleep in when him and Parker would get too crazy in their room at night. And most of the time he can manage to get the doors, with the childlocks on them, open. There's no containing him. He thinks hes got free rein and he loves it.

Yes, I think 2 has got to be my favorite age.
